🎲 “Villains!”
On March 27, 2024, our live Spilling Ink Event focused on villains! We discussed how they play a vital role in our storytelling.
Honestly, what would we do without the villain? A good antagonist shows us their value time and time again - they help to restore balance to “the Force,” they can galvanize our love and support for the protagonist, and they can give us a sense of purpose to seek accountability and justice for any and all wrongdoings. By design, villains are literary tools, which often serve as opposites or foils for the protagonist. They can be the ones to provide the darkness to the light and take away or destroy something that feels near and dear to the reader.
