Find three books from different genres that you are familiar with. Make some notes on why each book fits within its genre.
Now try a genre mashup! Take a character from one of the books and try putting them in a scene with elements, such as plot or setting, from a book that is from a different genre than that character’s book. You can even use elements from more than one kind of genre.
