FAQ

Our Membership is a community where Inklings get inspired and connect with other youth who like to write!

WHEN SHOULD I LOG ON?

We've set up the Membership so that you can join one of our pop-up monthly sessions whenever your schedule allows, as well as access content and connection on this website at any time.

Check out our upcoming calendar of events here.

Our login link is always the same:

HOW DO I GET THE EMAILS?

Your account is set up with your parent or guardian’s email address, and they will get any email updates about live events, author interviews, and other Membership happenings. If you would also like to get those email updates to your personal email address, you can add your email address here. Please note that many school district email addresses block a lot of outside mail, so a school district email address may not work for this.

SHOULD I WRITE IN A SPECIFIC APP?

We encourage all Inklings members to write regularly in a journal. The most important thing that you can do as a writer is to WRITE! A journal is a great place to write without any pressure. In your journal, you can experiment with poetry, character sketches, or even catch ideas like a name for a character or a fantastical world, a plot twist, or a snippet of conversation you overhear.

If you decide to start working on a longer project, you may want to draft it on your computer. There’s no perfect app, but we recommend that you choose one that won’t distract you. Go with what feels most natural to you. If you decide you want to share a piece of your work with other members, you can create a PDF to screen share from most word processing applications.

CAN I GET FEEDBACK?

We love that you're ready to share your work! There are a couple ways you can share your writing and get feedback as part of Inklings Membership. Toggle the options below to learn more.

Membership Circle

In our membership circle, check out the Show and Tell channel, where you can share a short piece of work, along with a question to focus your peers’ feedback in a helpful way. You can also share writing pieces from your journal in our Write With Us channel.

Mentor Feedback

You may have realized that you're ready for more personalized feedback. If so, you may be ready to sign up for a one-on-one mentorship. You can learn more about that opportunity here.

HOW DO I CONNECT WITH PEER WRITERS?

You can connect with your peers in our live sessions, and also as part of the discussions in our membership circle. In that space, you can introduce yourself, recommend a book, share writing, or ask for problem-solving advice.

HOW DO I CONNECT WITH A MENTOR?

Our live sessions are run by Inklings mentors who are happy to connect with you and hear about your writing. You may also reach out by replying to any of our emails to let us know if you're stuck with your writing, need help finding a resource, or have another question.

I HAVE A QUESTION!

Wondering about something that isn't covered here? You can get answers by emailing us directly:

The most important thing to do is to WRITE! However, we're always here when you're looking for inspiration and camaraderie.

One thing you can do is to join the conversation with Membership leaders, other members, and mentors. Not sure what you'd say? Not to worry! We have questions and prompts to get you started. And you can also ask your own questions and start conversations about topics you're most interested in, too. Join the conversation here.

We also have a growing collection of inspiring material and resources, including from our former program, the Drafting Workshop. Here are a few examples:
